Simon is the Group Managing Director and co-founder of bdhSterling. A UK Chartered Financial Planner, and dually qualified in both the UK and Australia, Simon is a strong advocate of goal-based financial planning. He believes that through the development of clear, lifetime financial plans, bdhSterling’s role is to bring clarity and certainty to clients’ financial lives. This enables clients to make confident decisions and achieve their desired lifestyle, particularly when moving internationally.

Simon began his career in financial services in 1998 within the corporate pensions division of a FTSE 100 company. In 2004, he moved into a boutique financial planning firm that specialised in advising clients migrating to Australia. It was here that he developed a strong technical foundation in cross-border advice and a deep understanding of the financial challenges facing those moving between the UK and Australia. A period spent travelling in Australia further strengthened his connection with the country and helped shape the vision for what would later become bdhSterling: a dedicated cross-border financial planning firm supporting individuals and families navigating international transitions.

In 2009, he co-founded bdhSterling, helping to shape the firm into a trusted, cross-border financial planning group with a clear strategic vision and an established presence in both the UK and Australia.

Over the past 16 years, Simon has worked as a financial planner across both markets, travelling frequently between the UK and Australia. Throughout this journey, he has led bdhSterling’s expansion while maintaining a strong focus on client outcomes, long term planning and consistent service standards across jurisdictions.

In 2025, Simon relocated to Perth, Australia with his family – experiencing first-hand the expat journey that many of bdhSterling’s clients undertake. This experience continues to inform the Group’s client-led approach and its support for internationally mobile families.

Having used bdhSterling for a number of years now with Simon Harvey as my IFA, I can safely say the business is professional, diligent and has always acted in the best interest of myself and my funds. What stands out the most is not only the results, but the overall customer care which really keeps them head and shoulders above some of their lesser competitors that I have also utilised the services of in the past.
