As Technical Operations Manager, Ellen leads our Paraplanning team and our SMSF administration team based in Australia. She ensures our technical functions run smoothly and that our teams deliver high‑quality, compliant support to advisers and clients across the business.

Before joining bdhSterling, Ellen spent 25 years working as an accountant before transitioning into financial planning. Over the past decade, she has worked with some of Australia’s largest financial services firms as a compliance specialist, ensuring advice meets Australian regulatory standards while remaining clear and accessible for clients.

Ellen holds a Bachelor of Accounting and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Outside of work, she enjoys camping adventures with her partner and their two dogs.

What’s your best tip for anyone moving to Australia?

Make sure you use sunscreen when enjoying our warmer weather. It’s easy to burn yourself even on our cooler days.

What’s the best thing about living in Australia?

I'd have to say the best thing is the variety Australia offers! You can sit on a beach in summer with some great sunsets or go skiing in the mountains in winter. We are also sport crazy and there is always something to do on the weekend.

What gives you the most satisfaction at work?

Working as a team to get the best result for our clients.
