An English native, Billy came travelling to Australia in 2015 with the desire to put his degree learnings into practice, getting some work experience under his belt before ultimately returning to the UK. Billy has now made Australia his permanent home. He’s progressed through the ranks at bdhSterling, from Administration Assistant, to Paraplanner, and now Financial Planner – and he’s never looked back.

What’s your best tip for anyone moving to Australia?

When I first moved to Australia, I brought over shorts and T-shirts and that was it! I discovered that this was a mistake as it does get (somewhat) cold in Winter and it does rain…a lot!

What’s the best thing about living in Australia?

The standard of living is great over here. Australia is very diverse and multicultural. The commute into work is also certainly less crowded than that of the London Underground!

What gives you the most satisfaction about your work?

Process and developing great relationships throughout is extremely satisfying.

What’s the best thing about working for bdhSterling?

If you go above and beyond and deliver results that are above expectations, it will get recognised.

What do you miss about living in the UK?

West Ham, although in recent seasons this has gotten a lot easier. Also Europe being on your doorstep!
